COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
MARKING MACHINES, LAUNDRY
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description as a replacement to Federal Specification OO-M-1724.
Intended use. The commercial marking machines are for use in fixed laundry and dry cleaning installations.
Salient characteristics. The marking machines shall be electrically and pneumatically operated. The machines shall be capable of marking on label tape with a minimum of 15 point printing. The lever operated machines shall have a minimum of 5 character wheels. The machine shall place a selected character at the print position when the lever is moved to the selected character in an independent slot. Each slot shall have an indicator containing characters conforming to the character wheels. When using the handle or handles on both sides of the sealing platen, the machine shall be designed so that by the operation of the sealing arm the tag is automatically printed and sealed to the garment. The marking machines shall be provided with a clip board assembly and tape roll storage rack. The tape roll storage rack shall provide a storage space for a minimum of 10 rolls of tag material. The marking machines shall be 110 volts, 50 or 60 Hertz, single phase, as specified.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description, and that the product conforms to the producers’ own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices and is the same product sold in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Packaging.
A. Commercial packaging. The marking machine shall be packed in accordance with commercial practice.
B. Commercial packing. The marking machine, packaged as specified, shall be packed in accordance with commercial packing complying with pertinent Uniform Freight Classification or National Motor Freight Classification as applicable.
C. Export packaging. One marking machine shall be packaged and preserved in accordance with method IC-2 of MIL-P-116, Preservation and Packaging.
